Yes, you read that correctly. Three weeks. 21 days. 11 work days.
This week, my preparations for leaving have included, but are not limited to the following activities:
-Work. Enough to keep me busy. My boss has been very merciful of late in assigning me easy things.
-Making giant rats nests of of every conceivable surface in my house.
-Cursing the fact that I own so many things! (Too much stuff, people! Just too much! Stop Consumerism! Move into a hut! Live like the aborigines! End rant.)
-Sold a load of things to random people, thanks to craigslist and local facebook groups. (Goodbye pictures! Goodbye picture frames!)
-Finishing up the transfer of data from my Mac Pro to my laptop and hard drive (and cloned emergency backup drive). Wiped old hard drives and clean install of OS. (Now ready to sell!)
-The continued procrastination of selling my Jeep. Yup. I’m good, realllllll good at procrastinating selling that Jeep. It’s a Jeep thing.
-Wishing I were somewhere else.
-Getting over it because in three weeks I WILL be somewhere else.
-More shots! (Last round of immunizations, check!)
-Tooth pain in the tooth I had root-canal-ed two weeks ago.
-Trip to the dentist. (Only a sinus infection because I’m amazingly lucky and have sinuses that are much too close to the roots of my teeth)
-Another trip to the pharmacy for antibiotics for said sinus infection. (It must be cleared up before the crown can be put on the tooth, and since I’m short on time… antibiotics)
-Picked up various medications (anti-malarials and the like) while at the pharmacy (go me for multi-tasking!)
-Random emotional outbursts in the form of sudden tears at realizing that I’ll soon be leaving behind my family, friends and everything I’ve built over the past 6.5 years+. You know, nothing major.
-Ordered odds and ends from Amazon, like a UV light/water purifier (I mean, how cool is that? Even better than a steri-straw) and a rain cover for my backpack. Also a full-size leatherman tool to toss in the bottom of the bag and a super adhesive patch kit to fix things, because I’m really good at breaking things.
