I started this blog years ago as a way to keep track of and share my travel adventures with friends and family. Blogging began, for me, more as a journal than anything else. Somewhere between 2008 and now, this site has taken on a life of it’s own and I’m so excited to have you along for the ride!
I first ventured outside of the United States at the age of 18 on a whirlwind musical tour of Europe. Six countries in two weeks, that sort of thing. The other-ness of other places astonished me. Three years later, hungry for more travel adventures, I joined the crew of a Cruise Ship and spent the summer sailing around the Caribbean. Over the next five years, I alternated school semesters and time spent sailing the world. By my twenty-sixth birthday I’d visited forty countries.
Eventually, I made the decision to leave the “shippie” lifestyle behind, focus on schooling and get a land-based job. I did that, working full-time as a Corporate Video Editor in Oakland, California for nearly seven years, traveling as often as possible. In September of 2013 I packed my suitcases, sold everything I owned and left the San Francisco Bay Area to travel full-time. My journey began with a cruise from Los Angeles to Sydney, Australia on a cruise ship I’d worked on eleven years before! Twenty two months later I finished my ’round-the-world journey by moving to Charleston, South Carolina – a place I discovered for the first time during the trip. It immediately felt like home and still does.
Other things about me…
I’m a traveler first. What I mean by that is this: There are a ton of people out there who aspire to make a living out of traveling. I aspire to explore. And if I make a living along the way, all the better. Travel is what gets me going, it inspires me and pushes me to grow. I never want to lose that passion for traveling, so I will try my best to juggle gigs and this blog. Time will tell how well I can keep the balance. I will always write my absolute, honest opinion about places experiences, no matter what.
I’m a Mormon. I’m a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I believe in Jesus Christ, the Bible, the Book of Mormon and in living a moral, Christ-centered life. I don’t drink alcohol, smoke cigarettes or do drugs. Ever. To learn more about what Mormons believe, check out Mormon.org.
I love my family. I’m a single gal, but I have a few siblings and some adorable nieces and nephews, all of whom I adore! (Eight nieces and two nephews). You’ll probably see me write about them/post photos every so often. They’re pretty great.
Follow along as I share insights, experiences and photographs from my wanderings.
And please, feel free to drop me a line if you have questions or comments. I’d love to hear from you!
